Loading up for 2002 Christmas Trip
Truck use Donated by Metro Ford, Independence, MO. This trip also included another dual pick up truck towing a trailer with 20 donated wood burning stoves and another Box truck owned by Randy Prentice (above) which hauled food and appliances etc. Close to 30 tons on this trip delivered to the community of Manderson on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and to the home of Darwin Apple.

This is a SEMI being loaded for our 0/4 Christmas Trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Former Independence Mayor Ron Stewart on the left, he helped load the "Teamsters Local 41" 18 Wheeler which they "loaned to us"!
Volunteer loading crew helped make FILLING the van a lot easier! Me next to the Mayor Stewart with Ray Lewis on my right, who was the "backbone" for many years of Operation Morning Star!

Makayla White Face - "Angels of Pine Ridge" article in the Independence Examiner was inspired by her gentle and loving spirit!

"Tent City" in the Community of Oglala on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. OMS responded to the "Tornado's" there in June 1999 and raised monies for and shipped 65 some FAMILY SIZE tents for families that lost use of their homes. We delivered needed food, beds, sleeping bags to families without anything.
NOTE: Our request for food and assistance here in Kansas City was TURNED DOWN by "Harvesters" and "Heart to Heart" who by the way, ALWAYS RESPOND TO EMERGENCY NEEDS OF OTHER RACES, CULTURES AND NATIONS!
But, our "radio listeners" responded though and came through big time!

Steve Crawford and Sandy Klaus help put up a tent for a family out of their home because of the tornados.

Delivery of "Gifts" in June of 97 in Manderson on Pine Ridge, home of Mildred Alkire. Built a food pantry, set up a "chicken farm", and planted a garden...a BIG ONE. This family was received over 15 loads of donations from 96-2000 which they distributed to the community.
In 99, OVER TEN THOUSAND tomato plants, along with bean, squash, and seeds for corn, peppers etc. were distributed to the Oglala Lakota through the Manderson CAPP Office that year by OMS.

Christmas of 97 OMS delivered over ten tons of "Gifts" to Manderson and distributed out of the "Episcopal Church" building which was not being used.
After that, we were not allowed to use that 'church'. It is still 'vacant' to this day !
